FAQs - Unwanted Same-Sex Attraction

Do you only work with people dealing with same-sex attraction?

No. Please see the About Us page.

How are you different from the other Christian ministries that deal with homosexuality?

We do not categorise anybody according to their presenting situation. We seek to meet each individual as a whole person within their own context. We usually have men and women together attending courses and events representing a wide-spectrum of issues. We are one of the few Christian ministries that offers systematic help in the form of courses.

What role does Living Waters play in the current worldwide church debate on homosexuality?

Living Waters does not seek to be involved in political debate but rather takes a pastoral than a political stand on this topic. We are often a sole voice in the UK speaking for the many men and women who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction and who wish to include this in their healing journey with God.

What is your policy on same-sex attraction?

Living Waters ministers to those who actively and intentionally seek help with regard to same-sex attraction. We see same-sex attraction as a combination of complex issues which in any individual may include some or all of the following:

  • Fatherlessness
  • Eroticised unmet childhood needs
  • Over-sensitivity
  • Mother “enmeshment” or abandonment
  • Shame, secrecy and self-loathing
  • Spiritual emptiness
  • Feelings of gender deficiency
  • Fear of men and/or women
  • Idolisation of others of the same gender
